Education System Information for study abroad candidates:

Education in majority of the European countries is provided predominantly by the state and is regulated by the federal Ministry of Education. Traditionally, the study abroad programs in universities and institutes conducted their own admissions tests regardless of the applicants’ school record. However in 2003 the Ministry of Education launched the Unified state examination (USE) program. The set of standardized tests for high school graduates, or those under study abroad programs or even study abroad scholarship programs issued uniformly throughout the country and rated independent of the student’s schoolmasters, akin to North American SAT, was supposed to replace entrance exams to state universities. Thus the USE empowers talented graduates from remote locations, coming under study abroad scholarship programs to compete for admissions at the universities of their choice.
